Underneath the naps, lasagna, and everyday contempt, Garfield has always been a born entertainer—provided “entertainer” includes terrible judgment, unchecked appetite, and the kind of comic logic that says one bad impulse should blossom into a full-blown hallucination. Hungry, heedless, and way too comfortable at the center of the spectacle, he carries himself with the confidence of a cat who knows that if reality starts melting, it should at least do so around him.
